The telescopes in space

Still in operation, the Hubble Space Telescope was launched in 1990 by NASA. Europe, including France, contributing 15 percent, of its operating costs and so has been able to use this outstanding instrument, which not only yields excellent images, but also covers the ultraviolet and infrared parts of the spectrum, both for images and for spectroscopy. Nearly all domains of astronomy depend on the space telescope.
