Solar eclipses are still interesting events to observe, since they enable detailed observations of the solar corona. However, these eclipses only last for a few minutes. Making use of the supersonic speed of the prototype of the Concorde, it was possible to follow a total eclipse for 74 minutes, which enabled the infrared emission of the corona to be observed, using a telescope on board the aircraft. To this day, this remains the only observation of this kind.
